The writing on top of a CPU??

Thanks. Bought a chip off ebay just now, supposedly a 3770. I reverse image searched the picture and it's not the seller's (but is at least a 3770). So I asked him for the code on the bottom, and he gave me a different one to that shown in the picture. Another quick image search and I found this exact code on that picture of a 3770k that I posted above. Safe to say seller is a fraud?
 
Probably just too lazy to take a picture, doesn't sound sinister.

EDIT - oh, so when you asked for the code he gave you the code off one he found on techpowerup?

Hmmm. I guess that is odd.

Yeah. One will be batch (L3/L4/X) usually. Other is stepping (usually 5 characters long) and then where it was manufacturered. Costa, Malay and Vietnam for Intel.
