Direct from the The X-Factor 2009 website...

If Alexandra’s winning moment seems like it happened in another lifetime, and the long intervening months since her coronation have dragged like a deep-sea trawler, then we have some very exciting news for you: on Saturday 22nd August at 7pm on ITV1 the new series of The X Factor begins!

Write it in the diary, jot it on the calendar, set the alarm, and prepare yourself… because this year’s show promises to be the best it’s ever been, and before long, you’re going to be wondering how you ever survived the first half of 2009 without this entertainment extravaganza in your lives.

Bigger, better, bolder, brighter, we’ve ripped up the ‘How To…’ talent show rule book and rewritten our own; through a heady mix of adventurous foresight and a cavalier can do attitude.

Watch our X Factor hopefuls audition for the judges and the crowds in packed auditoriums across the country, and bear witness as dreams are realised and crushed in equal measure.

It’s all so exciting that The X Factor Towers are physically trembling in anticipation!

So join us on this brave new adventure to Saturday night euphoria… weekends will never be the same again.

After the main show at 7pm on ITV1 be sure to switch to ITV2 for The Xtra Factor at 8:30pm.

So this time next week it starts all over again  Looks like they've taken a page from the US talent shows in regards to their audition process which should increase the pressure on those getting up on stage! :p

Will we have another lad whose name no-one can spell? Another cryer? Another sob story? A lass who is alergic to shoes?! :p We'll soon find out!

Who will be glued to their sets again this year? :D

With the greatest amount of respect nobody is breaking any rules and you asked who would be watching - in order to answer this obviously you'll get people who will not be watching posting, and as this is general discussion, explaining why.

There is nothing wrong with healthy debate about a topic. This is a thread about X-Factor and provided it doesn't get out of hand I see no logical reason to stifle the opinions of those who do not happen to agree with you. If you are going down that road whats the point in discussion anyway?

Actually I only asked who would be watching, "who will be glued to their sets again this year?". I didn't ask who wouldn't be or why not. It is a predetermined thread for fans to discuss the show and their opinions on the contestants over the coming months in order to avoid multiple threads on the same topic.

All that was a bit long for the title though as I thought from the OP and a plain bit of common sense would make people realise it was a fan thread :)

The boys
Duane Lamonte, Rikki Loney, Ethan Boroian, Joseph McElderry, Lloyd Daniels and Daniel Fox.

Lloyd might be another Eoghan - loved by the young girls and the Mums, will get to the live shows but unlikely to win.

Joseph McElderry (from round my way apparently) is good but forgetable imo but he's loved by Simon, which could save him if he's up against the girls or groups in the live shows :D

The girls
Rachel Adedeji, Despina Pilavitaz, Stacey Solomon, Nicole Jackson, Lucie Jones and Stacey McClean.

Lucie Jones is this years Laura, but with talent :p

Stacey Solomon seems to be a bit of a WAG and I'm not sure how the public will react to her tbh. She'll either do very well or very badly.

The groups
Kandy Rain, Tru Colourz, John and Edward, Miss Frank, Project A and De Tour.

Project A might actually do quite well but John and Edward already bug me! :(

Miss Frank should be a duet. Shaniece never looks happy to be with the other 2!

The overs
Jamie Archer, Nicole Lawrence, Treyc Cohen, Danyl Johnson, Olly Murs and Danyl Pearce

Jamie "Afro" Archer had some brilliant auditions (his version of "Sex On Fire" was better than the original imo :D ) but could struggle with softer songs. Crowd loves him though!

Olly Murs I definitely think is one to watch. Really enjoyed his auditions as well but I think he'll have more range than Jamie.

I had just made the same comments as the girlie judges - if you want people to forget your stripper past, don't come out dressed as strippers! Should have shown a bit of class and not a lot of ass :p

Why does he need to sing anything softer?

Because the nature of the show itself means he won't always be able to sing rock, and if he does badly it could be the end of his part in the competition. I hope he'll be good at all the themes :)

aawww... Lloyd! So young! Good luck boyo!

Lloyds song was a bit much but being drowned out won't have helped.

Lucy will be awesome or it's going to totally bomb, but she's got the talent to do this right I think!
