I'm watching an episode on Virgin 1 (Se4 Ep7 - Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man) that takes a closer look at who the Smoking Man is. Turns out he's been part of a secret organisation controlling world events since the assassination of JFK :eek: . Anyways, I thought this was a pretty decent episode and was wondering if there are any other TV shows or movies that deal with this kind of subject in a believable and compelling manner.
 
Fringe is like a modern x-files. Im sure I saw an episode of the x-files playing on a TV in an episode a couple of weeks ago. It has cross dimensional beings rather than aliens. Its also a bit like Alias which isn't surprising giving JJ Abrams involvement.

Fringe trys to copy X-files and does it badly.

I remember The Outer Limits as a kid, I think that was a little like X-Files
 
Millenium's first season is amazing, went downhill pretty fast afterwards, I get goosebumps now thinking about the episode when Franks police friend, Bob I think gets hung in his own house by that devil girl/guy thing. Damn, I need to watch that again.

Dark skies was awesome when it started, but it seemed to get out of hand later on.
 
Another vote for Dark skies a truly underrated series, a huge hit in the UK but sadly not in America hence why it fizzed out:(. On a brighter note though you can watch all the episodes on You Tube:cool:.

Underrated but stupidly over the top with tying pretty much every major event of the 60's into it's story, that made it an immediate fail for me.
 
Used to be a show on Ch4 about 10 years ago called Dark Skies that was basically an X-files ripoff. Not as good though.

JFK is a very good movie about er, the assassination of JFK, although bear in mind that like many of his films Oliver Stone has his own agenda, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Does anyone remember how the black oil (alien leach like creatures that get under your skin and cloud over your eyes) storyline ended? I've seen various parts of it but never the end. Was it alien? What was it doing?
