Well still trying to make my mind up on these new video cards.. So thought stuff it and ugrade my monitor to a nice HD example :)

Found the XL2370 for £179 inc del online.. would this make it pretty much the best buy under £200?

There is also the BX2450 at £190  not sure on the exact differance though apart from the looks and the inch? :p

cnet loves the XL2370, something about the colour vibrancy, however the BX2450 has 2x HDMI ports with a HDMI-DVI cable included in the box so you get 2 additional ports for consoles etc so if that's important to you, go the the BX, otherwise go for the XL

The BX2450 has colours that are more natural whereas the XL2370 has colours that are more in-your-face. We've reviewed the XL2370 and BX2350 on our website if you want to take a quick look.

Hey there Cryfreeman I bought this monitor recently too(seemed to score higher than the BX2450), take it you got the dixons deal too?

Well anyway thought I'd give you a few linkies and post my settings here:

I used the calibrated settings here as a starting point:

*note: I think the version we have is a newer one than he reviewed as the other more recent reviews didnt mention the problems he found*

Didnt really seem to need much more tweeking other than a few minor adjustments along with adjusting the gamma in the Nvcontrol panel but I ended up with:

Brightness: 35
Contrast: 37
Sharpness: 60
Colour tone: Custom
Colour Effect: Off
Gamma: Mode2
RGB: Manual
• Red: 51
• Green: 43
• Blue: 46

Nvidia Colour Settings:

48%= In: 72 - Out: 67
25%= In: 53 - Out: 48
10%= In: 35 - Out: 28

Would be interested to see what yours are if you've already done it, I'm quite happy with mine now, except it seems not as bright as my last screen but Im sure I will get used to that(less power consumption anyway).

How do you find stand? It looks quite short with the screen sitting quite close to the desk. Do you find yourself look down at the screen or does it feel natural.

Also, some reviews have commented that because it weighs so little (thanks to LED) it wobbles on the desk given the slightest provocation. How do you find it - does it feel sturdy and stable or quite wobbly?

Cheers,

Nigel

Hmmm the stand is not very sturdy feeling infact, I read it was height adjustable in one of the reviews and tried to force it to lift and it made a lot of plastic squeeks, so Im just glad it didn't break lol. Theres a slip of paper that comes with the stand that advises you not to carry it around by the stand when you move it, moving it by gripping either side of the unit itself is easy enough anyway(oh and to turn the screen towards my bed I'm going to turn the base/foot around to not stress the neck of the stand too much).

The height isn't a problem for me as the desk I use has a ledge for monitors anyway, when you think about it most CRTs arent very adjustable at all and we never made a big deal about it before LCDs arrived so I dont think its a deal breaker personally. It is able to tilt quite far in either direction(up or down) also.

Its very light weight overall I was quite suprised, but aslong as you screw the stand in nice and tight and leave it on a sturdy desk it shouldnt wobble. I haven't noticed that myself.
