Theft at work - RANT

So glad we have a happy ending - Phate reunited with his £450 phone.
And a picture to record the happy moment...

Rofl cracked me up.

"Hello? OcUK, YEAH I GOT MY PHONE BACK"

A normal person would not use physical violence. The people who suggested it clearly had no idea of the working environment.

You havent worked in my environment, people like that quickly become the office female dog if they they go all soft over that kind of stuff...ive seen it happen, its quite sad.

It says a lot about the OP that his collegue thought he was soft enough in the firstplace to be able to have the nerve to take his phone.

Now the guy has been dragged over the coals on this I'm sure that's really made his day.
You've made an enemy out of someone who was kind enough to loan you something of theirs. Added stress to whatever else he's got on his plate......

I'm not saying for one second that this guy was right in his actions but it was really easy for you to resolve this today without all this....

matty

Im guessing it didnt all happen as phate says, from previous threads.
not going to go more into it, but yeah. lol

It was probably taken in jest and possibly blown out of proportion, thats what i think anyway.

Be funny if a thread popped up with " Rant - person at work got me in S*** "

"Help me get revenge OcUK, somebody I lent a card reader too got me in trouble with the boss, I need revenge - I am considering murder" :D

Seems to me someone is disgruntled about having to give the phone back ;).

I'd have left it for the time being. The guy clearly wasn't going to keep it for ever, Phate has another phone anyway, he WILL have given it back even if it ended up taking a day or two.

What right does the guy have for taking Phate's phone though.

I certainly wouldn't have just waited for the guy to give the phone back.

Your Boss got it spot on - Pathetic.

got the phone back. Basically my boss turned round and told him to
give it back before it goes firthsr. Pulled me to one side, had a chat, said it was pathetic, and a waste of his time. I said i agreed and warned him that i would esculate it so i did. Boss said fair enough, and thats the end of it.

The other guy is still getting his wrists slapped (hopefully for being so immature) lol

Phate, im sorry but based on what you've said in this thread your manager was telling you the whole event was pathetic, not just his attitude

If you had brought that to me as your boss, i'd of told you to grow up and get on with it. Petty squabbles like this are for the playground when your 7, not someone like yourself who claims to be some IT director of a multinational blue chip company... or whatever you said in that thread :p

you seriously told on him?! how old are you anyway? if I took that to my manager, she'd laugh in my face! are you seriously that spineless that you can't get something back when you KNOW who's got it and why?!

the way I see this:

you borrowed something
you lost it
you ordered a new one
you forgot it and can't get it back for a while
guy at work gets annoyed

I'd have been annoyed, too, and made a mental note to never lend you anything again ever. your reaction after leaving the card in the car should've been "damn, oh well it's only £12, I'll get him another", not telling him to wait after he's already had to.

£12 isn't a lot when you consider what it could've bought you:

your own memory card reader so you don't have to borrow one again
the respect of your boss

Yes it sounds stupid to tell, but, if you think about it what would you have really done if someone took your mobile and didn't want to give it back (remembering you're in an office environment where everyone's watching). You wouldn't start a big argument over it and start shouting at each other, that's just as bad as telling on each other, and you certainly wouldn't have a scrap over it. What would YOU do if he took your mobile. Other than calling the police....
