Theft of lead, bay windows - VERY common here

Ok. I've been busy 4hr sleep not last night but the night before. So I get my head down last night >4am for an 8hr keep. I was woken 6-7am by my mum, SHED IS BROKEN INTO. This has happened before last time they jacked the bolt off and stole a £700 Race bike - I wont go into detail but I got it back. I've had cars stolen, being mugged - however there is a twist I don't think this thieft is the same person.

Then out in the front two wooden pieces of wood were there on the floor (looked up) and the bay window has had the lead removed, still all new I do what's best GOTO THE INTERNET (some links). So I go in my sisters room and out of the windows, onto the porch roof and look down and see it's stripped bare.

So I look at others and looking close they were mostly covered 2 doors down I knock and talk to the old lady that lives there, she too had it done she went as far as saying half the road have had this done and it appears they are on the next road.

Now, my bikes were stolen? well - after the lead they've seen an entry which was guess? unlocked they have thought "I'll look in there" dispite a better hasp/clasp they smashed through the shed with an axe or probably a hammer as they need a hammer to remove nails from the lead. Inside was a £700 racebike chained to a £100 bike - what probably happened is two people carried them out as a bonus.

Weight?? I would suspect they are using a van or truck and have dumped the bikes in as being chained means nothng.

I did btw contact the police and they're out at 3pm. Now theres what LOOKs like a fingerprint and there are shoe marks on the windowsil.

Now I was gunna mass print some info and post through all the doors about it and prevention or if the police can do it. Ideally I'd like them caught and my bike back my bike IS NOT something you see in this area it stands out.

Another thing, house insurance would that cover a bike? and the roof/lead?

We have no cctv sadly however I might setup a webcam, computer to record doubt it'd do well at night - ideally I need a cctv/floodlight setup sorted and trackable stuff for my bike and car.

Basically that night. Someone climbed onto our bay window at the FRONT of the house and ripped up the lead. It HAS been done to others weeks and months back and is common with churches. Now!! it's like wood, I will show a photo but water may leak into the house.

The lead is worth money in weight and looks easy to stelal but yesterday the police officer said it'll be illegal to just sell metals, etc

So after my mum at 6am spotted two piceces of wood long ones that should be above as a frame she saw someone had taken the lead. She ran into the back garden to check it there then saw the shed had been hammered in and my £700 road bike and my sisters new ish bike >£200 - BOTH bikes where chained together and padlocked.

We even think both thefts were separate possibly but same night. Now from the front of the house, there is an entry which was what I would assume unlocked, maybe seein anythin in there then at the end to the left is a wooden door that goes into next doors garden but very end a gate to ours? however at the end of the entry it narrows so to get to the gate you do it side ways, overweight? might not be able to fit through. Which asks how they could get 2 chained TOGETHER bikes back through the gate and that really narrow gap. Either climbed up / lifted the bike OVER the wall or used ANOTHER garden.

Sorry if I said it was my mums £100 bike as we thought it was that bike which is generic n fallin apart that was locked/chained to my bike but it was my sisters chained to mine.

I have out in the back garden aload of house plants I am sure adults did this kids would have booted them or summit. No sound woke us now my little sister (the grandaddy one) she wasn't here over night but her room was above the bay so you would have heard rippin carpet sounds and maybe seen them, this would really worry her, infact these f'ers dont care if a child/or adult is scared to death by break ins and muggings.

If wanted I could share when she came back at 6pm seeng the police car with HER friend who my grandad hates with passion.

and again I will ask claim off the home insurance for the lead will my mums preminums go up and the shred, well both bikes are they covered being not in the house but in a shed?

I gave the police all the details and a photo of my bike. Basically anyone riding on a road bike with the curved handlebars in silver or looks painted should be checked, will or wont they I dunno. Will I reunite with my bike and sisters? I hope.

Ok. First off - that MTB bike WAS stolen in a city centre.

The car, they HAVE fingerprints and I got a name from the police. Thing is it's not really worth it going agaist him (21yr) and known to do it. They'res no evidence so it's just a case of letting go due to damage.

Now this morning, 14 doors down another person has had the same done, the lead. Right now someone is replaceing it with something similer, he said he's very busy and in another arealike 70% are stolen he is replacnig with another alt. £350 it costs but insurance will cover it.

Insurance WONT cover bikes but the shed damage it will.
- dunnno if it's worth that.

Now. Heres were hope is. I DID get a tip off from a friend he said HE SAW, actually SAW the bike, mine and my sisters - he does not want any involvement but said basically it's just down that road and facing when I saw. I drove down chances are it's hidden in the skip or woods which I might checkout on the way to the shops in a bit. He said this morning he has a name. Now, reckon if I mention I got a anon tip off of a name of somenoe who has it to the police much can be done? Apart from watch n see.

This car will be next to get wrecked I got a fiesta and don't laugh. it dose have an alarm and I'll be getting a gps tracking i my bike and the car - any cheap way of this so NEXT TIME - I can open maps and walk to it. oh yeah and flood light at back and cctv are on the list.

Basically, the bike was seen by a friend and a rough idea of where (house wise) it is, I might be able to have them returned it seems.

Righty, when I was shown the location were the skip was he said the bike was facing and a guy trying to sell. Now I went there again twice today and the skip is a red one that's TOP covered and locked. Loooking at the nearby houses and it's NOT outside a house but centred there's NO visable work being done that requires a skip.

Ok so check out the video at 0:23 the skip is like that. The company offer normal skips too. Our area aint that posh.

Can someone tell me the price difference? I look online and it's a call 'em system but in general. I have no idea on the price difference but WHY would someone pay whatever more for a skip to "lock up?" and consider my bike was seen facing?

Yesterday I saw the skip and facing wall where the bike "was" so I carry on around the corner into a little housing area (known for crime, drugs as if our place aint bad enough) you could not go further - (police line do not cross). I suspect police have gone in and raided multiple houses and basically said no one in or out. you can go in now but if my bike was recovered would I NOT of been contacted by police?

Personally I do think there is a high chance that the skip is half full of random stuff and also stolen gooods and my bike taken apart and bagged and in there too. Looking in (no touch) was not easy but all plastic stuff and not possible to see. Sounds to me - rent a skip a weeek, on the rob, get pics, stash, find buyers?

Now, what really is the legality in me, parking on the road a bit back and watching it from a distance? or using software/spying equipment on the skip or near by that picks up and feeds to me noises. (talking slammin?) - this would be illegal though right?

Or can I contact the police again over it? and say there IS a possibly it's in there? Would they watch it (probs not), or can they legally search the skip? like find the owner who rented it and request keys? stop and search style or they need a warrent?

@EVH sorry for long posts, lulz but thanks for actually helpin'. Takin it serious.

Aye but no one will know will they? if they did they would have a story like the guy is working on INSIDE his house. as that would a story for people, I ask the guy himself he may not be happy and say go away or it's NOT his maybe it's the concils he will say?

Now the skip is near full you can open it abit as the chain/lock on ONE side is broke so in a public place lift it a bit and see? and anyone says or looks then I will say "I was just tossing a Monster as they're aint bins, why? there a problem with that? and just, say never meant to cause harm, is it your skip? actually tbh our work place needs one but bigger BUT we need like this locking due to personal data and stuff we throw then ask how much or summit and maybe see if I can get why?"

Might check it now, as it's night that's when they would mostly use it. it IS on a car park sorta well a bay for cars when I got the company name/number I pulled in and reversed back out so it looked I was turning round. I could park there on the bay at the end with a cam and leave the car alarmed, secured? but a running dashcam. Or outside a house, lights off but far back but not for long people would be out so Id be on the phone as cant drive n chat, eh?

I will ask my mate more info I am sure he has the name of the guy who had my bikes both were facing that skip so it's close enough and really why would you get a skip and lock it? I see summit dodgy going on

Reckon watch it abit, get some evidence? then goto the skip company OR the police? Skip company wont do much I reckon I doubt they'd hand me names or dates but the police MIGHT be able to search it or ask to search and nothing to hide then they'd be allowed to search it.

Chances are bikes that are different they lay low for longer and spray, etc so you'd never notice it even mtb handle bars on it and it looks like a hybrid. I would just be really upset to not have what took awhile for me to save for, gone - for what, some drug habit or summit. it is a proper race bike no one aapart from cyclists would have them since it's a specific bike not an 200-300 mtb!

One idea though would be to spy devices? software for an old phone or summit that will listen and when there is noise it can be heard by me at home slamming of the door you hear and know to get down there? or maybe a device that I see in shops you wear on your ear and can hear 20ft away.

Also next to it is woods like just aload of trees that go right down the road, years ago me and mates used to play in them makin' dens then one day we saw people in OUR den. We ran LOL - used to love playin' dens finding other peoples dens and ours was a good en we had an airport trolly and coach from another den so aye. Easy to stash a bike in there but a skip it'd be secured.

Heh, what's that lad down the road getting for x/mas? Your bike. I will bug my mate tomorrow for any info he can help with - he was the one who saw it, knows a name. He said if he sees he will txt me straight off but aint one for getting involved if he could contact him or something that'd be sweet or if I saw him with it, say "wow, nice bike there I have a specialised too it's for trail riding, I was gunna get a road bike but a decent one is £400 at least then see if he says something about him sellin it and not using it and feeding lies, he woould want 200-300 probs to make it more real than 150ers who know its robbed and I'd say nah or be put off by something." then call police for it back. Sad thing someone may of paid 150 for it then sold it for 300 once I get hold of it it's moved through people and they'll moan they have lost out.

Righty brb a quick drive. No idea what IMMA do. Again I reckon stuff is in theere for a weeek and he will sell it by pics or get it out and sell or have it temp stashed till he gets a buyer my bike is summit though that would last awhile, it may in years time end up somewhere where they check the serial and the guy selling to the place has NO IDEA it was stolen.
