Thorpe Park
£15 Ticket and ~£5 petrol each
Open 9.30 - 6

Chessington
£15 Ticket and £7 Petrol each
Open 10 - 6

Alton Towers
£17 Ticket and ~£10 Petrol Each
Open 10 -5

For a group (5) of lads (18 to 23)

Which would you choose and why?

Currently thinking Thorpe as its the closest and open longest however would the one the other be worth the extra money/less time?

Alton Towers, cos there's stuff to do there other than ride around in circles.
Truth. Never really got the whole 'fairground' / spinny rides at Thorpe Park (if that was what you were implying). Also its a lot nicer to walk around and chill out at than the others (probably what Gilly was implying).

Alton Towers has the best rides by a mile too.

Still, I will say for everyone who has been, if you are tempted to take a 'shortcut' through the gardens rather than take the skylift... don't. That park map is very decieving!

Stealth is however by far the best 'thrill' ride in the UK.

Do NOT go to Chessington. It's basically an enlarged kiddie's playground.

Me and the gf went to Thorpe Park recently. Great fun and lots of extreme rides.

Advice: book a day off work to go - one which isn't a public holiday, and get there at opening time.

Alton Towers is aimed at the older generations, so I'd go there personally. Went there last weekend actually, a total of 18 of us :D Was a wicked time, best I've ever had there.

Slightly offtopic, but the Skyride isn't running at the minute, there was a fire sometime last year. It's due to open later this year I believe

Sitting at home watching paint dry>Alton Towers

AT might be better than the rest but it doesn't make it good :)

Its quite a good day out if you like that kind of thing. However I don't think I've ever paid full price for a ticket but then has anyone?

its STILL closed?
everytime i went last year the damn thing wasnt open, iirc its been closed since the 2006 season

Thorpe park has got quite a bit better in the last few years, Stealth is rather a lot of fun, acceleration is maddness!

Would still reccomend Alton over it though, despite the increased cost.

I went to Alton Towers twice on school trips (before Air was there and Oblivion was quite new) and have been once to Thorpe Park. Chessington i havent been to for over 10 years, which is a tad silly considering i live on 'Chessington Road' and it is about 15 mins drive away, lol.

Out of the 3 i personally would go to Thorpe Park being that it is so close, but if you were to make a good trip of it then Alton Towers cos of the top rollerocoasters (i found Collosus a bit disappointing tbh as the last corkscrew should have been faster), went on it 6 times).
