Hey guys,

My Theory has been booked, and I was wondering how did you pass your Theory, and what did you do or use to revise, also got any tips? :)

I have noticed there are a couple of apps on the iPhone which may help, so I will give them a go too!

Highway code?

Driving Test Success is a good little DVD for about a fiver which you can use for the hazard perception, and it would be a good idea to practice this as it quite easy to go wrong. I think there are also some case study questions now, but I've no idea what they involve.

Just the theory test DVD and putting the thinking/stopping distances into short term memory 5 minutes before the test. Passed theory with 1 wrong answer.

I do not recommend Focus Driving Test Success DVD. It needs the DVD in the drive while using the software and will read a question at a time from the DVD causing the drive to spin up (loud) and then spin down 30 seconds after reading the test. Making a ISO of the disk and using the free Daemon Tools will result in it saying you have an illegal copy. Paid for Daemon tools with IDE mode (iirc) works OK. Part of the EULA says you can not sell/give away the DVD as well, which I do not agree with - would have returned it at this point if I didn't buy it through my instructor...

This. You learn to click twice for some hazzard's. that you my spot just before the 5 point's stage. but still pick up 4-3 point on the second click.

Highway Code just read that and you should be fine.

Can also do some of the practice tests which are available online.

Did mine when it was 35 questions so it was very easy but I bought a highway code book and a disc from amazon and just kept doing the tests over and over again.

I just read the Highway Code the night before and crammed. Most of the test is common sense really, just remember your signs and stopping distances.

got any tips? :)

Just revise the highway code and don't take too much notice of the hazard perception test warning you to not click too much - give it a click every time you see anything, and click again as the situation develops.

Do not ration your clicks for fear of failing for constantly clicking, to trigger that you really would need to be constantly clicking.

Correct. I found I was actually clicking before the 'scoring window' had opened up for some hazards and therefore resulting in a score of 0 for those clips. I then decided to click twice for each hazard to increase the chance of clicking in the scoring window.

I didn't really read the highway code. I had/have a good understanding of the road anyway due to being chauffeured around for 18 years.

I just had the CD/DVD and just ran the practice test over and over again.

Passed my theory 33/35 (think it was 35 back then?) in around 10 minutes. Was last in the training room and first out :p

+1

That's what I used and passed first time with. It's easy really.

i got All-In-One Driving Test 09/10 Edition with Hazard Perception & V2 PC Software.
but the postman delivered it about 5 mins before i had to set off for my test so had no revision.
it's a really straight forward test, if you've been in a car/ had any lessons you should easily pass it.

How did you gind that out?

When I did my theory about 6 months ago I read through the question book once then picked out and looked again at the few more difficult questions.

I also had a go a few times on the BSM hazard preception disk however I think it was useless really as it was totally different to the actual Hazard perception disk and even my family (Dad and sister) couldn't pass it...

Got full marks on the theory and a few marks off full for the Hazard. :)

Well I clicked once for a clip after noticing the hazard, then afterwards on the software you can review the clip and it will show a timeline of the scoring window and the position at which you clicked. The click was just before the scoring window opened plenty of times.

Just remember the stopping distances and the rest is common sense stuff that you will remember from being in a car (there is loads of time to do the test imo so don't panic)

What Telescopi says above is sage advice regarding hazard perception test (although how a pedestrian cross a side street that you have no intention of turning down is a hazard is a mystery to me) HPT is the biggest load of crapolla since HIPS were introduced. I don't know about anyone else but I can do more than look straight ahead and I have mirrors to help me drive (thinking of the dual carriageway clip)
