there might be a new 360 after all?

I work at a video game retail store, and today we had the price of this system into our computers. The description in the computer is X360 Black (120g), $479.99 is the going rate for one of these (this never tends to change upon the actual release of the system), awesome price, still cheaper than the cheapest PS3 and a hell of a lot more worth it. And I would expect mid if not late april for the release, although I still havent heard anything official...

Should we believe him? I'm not sure if I do or not.
I want another 360, I don't want to grab one now (even though you can get a premium for under £230 now) if the bigger better black one is coming out so soon.

You can't get HDMI on the xbox 360 yet.

and tbh 120GB and being black isn't really anything to persuade a UK buyer to get it. What you gonna do with 120GB? we can't DL stuff to the HDD outside the US.

I wouldn't say obviously tbh, the kings of downloadable content music, movies and TV shows (Apple) still haven't managed it in the UK yet. and with BT tying up some big names for VoD, the UK will be a tough market to try get into.

It's supposed to be introduced around the time when they release the Apple TV in europe.

I have not seen this anywhere yet tbh. The most popular content on iTunes in the States is episodes of popular TV shows broadcast the week they are aired on TV. For this reason alone we will not be seeing the tv shows here as most of them are already bought for exclusive showings here. IE Sky have rights for Lost, E4 Desperate Housewives etc.

Often the TV companies sell 1 or 2 seasons to UK broadcastors at a time so until these contracts expire I cannot see how Apple could distribute these shows here? Obviously I don't know the intricacies of the contracts, but I am sure the TV channels would not sign contracts that would be ruined by iTunes showing the episodes the same time as they are shown in USA!.

Same with MS, I have no doubt both these companies want to bring these downloads to the UK, but they don't have any real clout to do this outside of the USA. The TV companies make more from selling shows to foreign TV channels then they would to iTunes. Sadly it's not in their interests to admit this. of the 2 Apple is more likely to succeed as it is more important for their product lines (iPod, iTunes, Apple TV). MS don't need to push hard for this outside of their home market as primarily the 360 is a Games Console and will still sell based on this. Obviously for Apple no Shows/Films outside of USA means they cant sell many Apple TVs.

I personally don't see the hype over it AFAIK it has HDMI (you can buy I think), a 120GB hard disk and it's black.
no you cannot get HDMI for it yet

best feature is it should be quieter using the new processor and dvd drive

What are Apple trying to do?

Trying to make us pay to download 640*480 resolution videos that are DRM'd to only playback through Apple products. They have already convinced the Americans!!! :D

And by all accounts lots of people want this :)

Clearly this is not quite yet the era of HD....

And the fact the DVD drive will be super duper engineered so it can't be cracked by those naughty hacking folk. The 120GB drive was always going to be coming at some point. I am sure the main motivation for this is to stop the piracy. Plus they know ppl are suckers for the same product in a new colour, about 1-2 yrs after launch (ala Gameboy, DS, Xbox, gamecube, PS2, PSP and every other console/handheld in the last few years).

These days its almost a given, if a company releases a black device, a white version will follow or vice versa, for a few pounds more. I think it is something to do with the price of black paint compared to white paint.

what can you use the 120gb hdd for ?

is it mainly for future proofing

id still rather see a kind of hdd caddy accessory you can just buy your own hdd for (in size of your choice) because if its as overpriced as the 20gb hdd was then its going to cost a fortune :/

would mean you could upgrade as hdd sizes/ content on live increase

I use nigh on 6 GB just for patches, game updates, maps and Dl content etc. Then demos on top.

Straight from Steve himself iirc.

And also, what would be the point in releasing the Apple TV in europe without downloadable iTunes content, since it only plays videos downloaded from iTunes.

I think you've not been looking hard enough tbh ;)
