i've seen the words "nobody ever posts when their head gasket is ok" one too many times now

so here's a thread for those of us whose cars dont have mayo in the fillers - rover owners especially welcome!

There's nothing wrong with my headgasket!

In fact, I've owned 4 Rovers and I've never had head gasket failure... even when I had coolant leaks/no cooling fan on the 214 while stuck in traffic!

*grabs onto closest piece of wood and hangs on for dear life*

I never had a HGF on my renault 5, I blew up the 306 which killed the HG (that count as HGF?), and I haven't gotten to drive the 205 yet. Never got a HGF on my dad's rover, and it's a POS!

InvG

Can I make a claim for the earliest HGF?
My one and only HGF was on a Hillman Imp(well, a Singer Chamois) way back in 1972
All Au engine+ high Compression+ rear mounted was never a good idea

4 Rovers (216gti, 216coupe, 623gsi & ZT 190+) amongst the 10 or so cars I've had and no HGFs at all, in fact the only breakdown ever was an ecu fault on the gti, they're much more reliable than that Jap rubbish;)

Errr, weren't the engines in the GTi and 623 Hondas? ;)

 :(

Had a bit of a scare this morning though (no, not my headgasket). Got paid before, it showed up on my account but it won't let me draw any money out!

Been onto the bank and it's a problem at their end. Hope it's sorted by today... can't get any money until they pull their finger out.

Can't you draw it out even if you go into the bank?

If my new PIN doesn't come through I've got to draw out a wad to cover fuel - B&B - RR run - bleh.

ive only ever had *touch wood* one head gasket failure on my XR2 which was rather spectacular as i was jumping over bridges etc and doing my rallcar wananbe thing. cue lots and lots of smoke out of the exhaust, the car dropping onto 3 pots and me nursing it home about 4 miles at 25mph....

had it back up and running 2 hrs later at a cost of about £8.

other than that no problems with that car and it did 145mph on the clocks a week later.

ones i havent.... 205, Fiat Panda, Escort 1.3, Orion 1.3, and Escort 1.6. :)

It's the same with R5GTTs people say "ooo eer mate the 'ed gasket love to pop on those don't it "

Well yeah, if you whack the boost up, don't sort the fuelling out or the cooling, then of course the hg will fail, id rather that fail than crack a liner!

If you look after most cars, treat them with respect, service them properly you should see no issues.

Hell headgaskets aren't that hard to change, depending on the car of course :)

My MR2 is currently mayo-free! However, out of the 3 POS French cars I've owned, 2 of them suffered HG failure  (a 306 and a ZX).

Japanese motoring for the win!

Not sure.

It's showing the payment into my account but hasn't updated the actual accessible funds.

Oh, the bank is a good 7 miles away. I don't think I have enough fuel :(

Can't get a lift? :(

With ID you should be able to draw it from the bank - explain there has been a **** up at the banks end and you need it urgently. They should be able to do something.
