Spotted this on another forum, thought it was interesting and shows how what we all believe to be fast is SO FAR off what an F1 driver thinks is fast!

Watch this:

Then this:

F1 cars have for most of my life been simply the quickest way on earth to get around a race circuit that doesn't just have left or right hand bends!

I'm not amazed by the speed difference, I am amazed by the difference in the driving line taken, the F1 guys just go straight through the double bend virtually in a straight line, removing the need for big steering, braking and maintaining outright speed.

Then watch all the nobbers in the first video again, its fast driving 101 surely?

Easy to say from behind a keyboard, everyones an expert in that position but it's less easy when behind the wheel. Most of the cars in the first video are pretty much on the line, though carrying much less speed and such a wide range of different cars. Anyone with track experience knows about lines and on that basis knows the first video is not full of nobbers, though perhaps less skilled than the blokes in the second...perhaps.

Some difference in lines here too, bunch of nobbers aye.
