Got my new pc arriving tomorrow (i hope will be sitting in drive waiting )
My first 64bit and first intel
Was just wondering best way to apply Thermal Compound
somepeople say just apply to middle and others say thin layer all over
which way is best

I tried both,

Grain of rice in the middle and also a thin layer all over using cling film on my finger.

Same temps for both

as long as you apply a small thin layer to the CPU, i dont think it will really matter tbh.

personally i always put a small dab in the middle of the cpu and then use something to spread it out.

I did read Arctic silver guide which said bit in middle
But the pdf manul for my DS3 mobo said all over

Get Liquid Metal instead much more efficient and easier to apply
