Thermal compound suggestion

I ordered the Coollaboratory and the mx4 this morning.Just out of curiosity what is the normal unoverclocked running temp of the 3770k

any of the big brand pastes are good - arctic silver, MX-2 or 4, chillfactor 3, prolimatech

the funny thing is that even with ambient temp record and as close to reproduceable method as you can get - the same paste will score better or worse against it's contemporaries on different reviews with only minor differences in testing methodology

stulids review on here is by far the least reproduceable so is the one I take with the biggest pinch of salt

my own experience of MX-2 vs. MX-4 vs. chill factor 3 vs. prolimatech paste is that they are within 1C of each other on my setup, and these are the ones that I see being touted as "the best" most often in reviews

it's even less important with the ivybridge CPU's because they are inherently at a disadvantage due to the interl paste they use (unless you intend on de-lidding them to use liquid pro, but personally I wouldn't bother invalidating my warranty for an extra 100-200mhz)

I am not going to be happy till i get 5ghz out of my 3770k, with my current water cooling loop I got 4.5ghz stable out of my i7 950. I dont intend to but if i need to de-lidd my 3770k to get to 5ghz then I will.
