Thermal grease go off?

Hi all,

Quick question for you very knowledgeable chaps. Does thermal grease (AS5, etc) go off over time? I've a tube of Coolermaster stuff that I've had for 2 years. OK to use or should I bin it and stick with the basic stuff that came with the HSF?

My AS5 is still good after a couple of years. The first tiny bit that comes out after not having used it for a long time is naff but after that its fine.

I read the 5 in AS5 as an S, that sounded so wrong.

Mine seemed too after a long while.

Replacing it saw ~3/4Degree temp drop after it had time to bed in. Could've been that I applied it better 2nd time round but there's no harm in changing it I spose
