Thermal pad / tape difference

Is there any difference between the 2?

I need to replace the following pads: http://soren.hegner.googlepages.com/4.JPG/4-full.jpg

They are 1-2mm thick.

Looked on OcUK and another retailer in town and they only stock this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...7&name=Akasa AK-TT12-80 Thermal Adhesive Tape

That's 0.3mm thick.

I'm a bit weary of the thin tape as it looks like it might split due to the indentations in the parts they will be stuck to. Is it best I find something thicker?

Anyone?

Managed to locate 1.5mm thick 10mm wide thermal pads but I need wide strips (20mm wide at least and 1mm thick is ideal). If anyone know where I can get some, could you please email me - seem really hard to come by.

Either tape or pads should be fine, I wouldnt worry about using the slightly thicker stuff, 1mm aint gonna make a great deal of difference, though you may want to replace all the pads at same time if you do use a different thickness to ensure an even contact

Added pics of what I'm dealing with, if anyone care to comment. If I can't source any the same, I may well get the Akasa 0.3mm stuff and hope that fills the gaps adequately.

I was looking at this a while ago to reattach the stock cooler to my graphics card - I think the tape is too thin and would leave a gap.

You should probably check your email though.

Thanks. Had a look there, but limited it to Uk search only. At least, I know they are available. That one site does have them quite expensive though. Anyway, I should find something suitable among them.

Just to conclude this thread (fingers crossed), I got some 1mm thk pads from an e-tailer after all, found last minute, although I was going to use the Ebay links Dingleberry sent me.

Did all the replacement as follows, but no noticeable difference yet - still idling at 55 under 1ghz (half load of my 2ghz core 2 duo)!. My fans were clogged with dust though. Will try gaming and see if it still hits 65.

Light blue ones are those I removed.
