Thermal Pads

Hey guys,

I need to replace the thermal pads on my Windforce 3x HD7970 card.

Can anyone help point me in the direction of which pads I would need?

I haven't used this stuff before but it is meant to be good, not really much variety in the UK unfortunately.

Is there anyway to find out what thickness of thermal pad you require for certain cards? I guess you could take off the original stuff and measure it with a vernier gauge to get the thickness.

You can buy EK pads in 0.5mm, 1mm, 1.5mm thickness and either square or thin rectangle (memory sized), they are the best imo they're the ones they use for their waterblocks.

Does anyone know what thickness I would need for a 7970? Should I be okay with just 0.5mm?

Also, does anyone know if you have to replace thermal pads each time the seal is broken like you would with paste?
