thermal paste for H100i

With the liquid ultra/pro, ive seen some people state temp drops of upto 10c compared to conventional pastes. Max i got was 5c, it's the paste of choice for those who delid their ivybridge cpu's, temp drops of 20c + are pretty common as the stock intel paste used between the die and the heatspreader is rubbish.

If used properly, it wont do any damage. However it is known to stain heatsink bases and cpu surfaces, and as it may require metal polish to remove it, it can result in the info printed on the cpu's ihs being removed. It has to be applied very sparingly, and avoid contact with aluminium as it will eat through it. Main thing to avoid is getting it anywhere near the cpu socket pins on the mobo's cpu socket. Have a watch of the video on the ocuk product link to see how it's applied.

In that vid, the guy used a cotton bud to apply the pro version, the ulta was supplied with a small brush. When it comes to applying it, id reccomend using a small artists brush as the cotton bud may cast fibres onto the paste. I havent used the pro myself, but apparently the ultra is a bit easier to apply.

Cotton bud is easiest way and you only need a very tiny drop of it. It's a pain to clean off so make sure you're not going to be removing your cooler often.

I didnt use the brush that was supplied with the ultra, (very flimsy bristles). Thankfully, being a painter + decorator i have a wide selection of brushes. Resorted to a fine artist type brush with stiffer bristles. Made spreading it a bit easier.

Hi setter eventually got round to getting a tube of the ULTRA,

Will it be ok for 4770k and h100i and can i say remove the h100i 6 months down the line and change cooler without adding more liquid metal to the cpu?

If you remove the heatsink it would be best to clean and re-apply for best performance.

Cheers I've been reading a few stories that the ultra is a pain to remove but not
As hard as the pro liquid at getting off and I ain't a fan of sanding a cpu lol
