Quick question - in a laptop there is a heatsink type pipe that cools some of the parts on the mobo down which has thermal paste between them... if this is removed and then put back on with no new thermal paste is that bad even if temps look the same?

You may get a few air bubbles if you left the original thermal pad/paste fitted, however if the temps have not changed no real drama, may want to invest in some thermal paste tho :)
