Thermal paste out of date?

Hi guys,
I had gotten an i7 950 with an extreme edition cooler. The TP that came with it is out of date by 1 year.
Will this affect the temps?

I've still got some of that in my PC tools pouch.

Although I think I did throw out the large tube of thermal paste I got from OCUK for a fiver when I bought an Athlon Slot A CPU.
I thought that ten years old was possibly a little too old to hang on to (unless I forgot to actually throw it out...it might still be in one of my boxes)

A lot of pastes do not have use by dates, so maybe this one will not actually be any good. I have used pastes that are over 4 years old without issues but then they had no dates.

It is new and sealed, DOW Corning or something. Came with an i7 Extreme edition.

If its still spreadable to a smooth thin layer with no lumps get on with it

Have a little bottle of some grey stuff with a brush from 2009 and used it last week.
