Thermal paste with CPU or cooler?

Hey guys,

Going to be ordering my Intel Q9550 and Arctic Cooling freezer 7 pro soon

Just want to know... Will one of the 2 come with thermal paste or will i need to buy some separate? If so what would you recommend?.

The heatsink will have compound pre-applied to the contact surface. While most recommend to remove this and apply something like Arctic Silver compound, I've found the pre-applied stuff more than sufficient. Unless you're planning on some major overclocking, just go with that.

if i remember right the pre-applied stuff on ac coolers is mx2 which is very highly rated

Stick with the stuff on the AF7Pro, mx2 is one of the best TIM about anyway

Pay more attention on the heatsink and the fan rather than the thermal paste.

Most pre-applied thermal paste can do the job even for some overclocking.
For major overclocking, thermal paste may not take too much role in overheating.

AS5 and MX2 is the best out there, but I still waiting to order a new one MX-3 thermal paste soon. Hope OCUK will be in stock soon ?

ACF 7 PRO comes with AC MX-2 applied who knows could be MX-3 now.
