I need to buy some thermal paste, but would like to buy more than the usual little syringe full.

Where can I get it in a larger quantity? I just want it so we dont have to keep running out after reseating CPU fans etc?

Why do you need more? A tube full of AS5 has lasted me for absolutely ages. I doubt you can get hold of larger quantities easily though. Your probably best off getting several tubes/syringes.

I concur with messiah khan; I bought a small (3.5g) tube of AS5 in 2003 and I've lost count of the number of times I have used it, but it's still going.

I believe larger tubes of AS5 are available, but OcUK don't stock them.

It is for my work and for example, we currently have 3 machines that are needing new heat sinks or need new paste applying, so the small paste tube would be almost gone on just those.

Almost gone on 3 heatsinks? Sounds like you're using far too much

I've probably used my 3.5g tube about a dozen times and it's still more than half-full.

What type do you use, out of interest?

The pastes supplied with most heatsinks are designed to be applied in relatively large quantities and usually they only supply enough for one or two seatings.

You might find that you have a different experience with something like Arctic Silver 5; you only need to apply a very small amount (about half the size of a rice grain) on each CPU, so the tube will last forever. Also, AS5 does not degrade, so if you apply it properly, you will never need to re-apply.

you can buy larger tubes. I bought a 22g tube of artic ceramique from somewhere else.

You know where from? I dont think it should be against OCUK rules as they dont sell this item, so it aint a competitor.

Ive bought an arctic cooler 64 pro ( from elsewere) and it looks like its already got some kinda paste on the bottom, take it i just need to clean whats already on the cpu and put the arctic cooler straight on?

I suspect the place where you can get these tubs from, also sell AS5 etciin normal quantities as well as other computer stuff, so yes it would be a competitior.

The stuff that on the AC 64 pro is MX1, which is as good as, if not a tiny bit better than AS5. Its also had the perfect amount applied, so simply leave it on.

Edit; Need to read the post correctly before answering :o . Yes, clean off whats on the cpu already. Use something like Isopropynol or pure alcohol medical wipes to clean it off.
