Thermal Paste

What should I use to spread the thermal paste on the CPU? pice of card?
Thought enything would be better than using my finger

Library card usually does the trick

Get it mega thin though and even

I used a razor blade. That works very well. Just don't cut yourself.

just thinking.... when im putting it on, to i put the CPU on the table? hold it in my hand? put it into the motherboard first?

i dont spread it out, just put a blob in the middle then whack the heatsink on and it spreads it out itself

Thats the recommended way, meant to stop air being trapped unlike the spreading method. The core is only small, so there's no need to cover the whole IHS in paste.

it is also one hell of a lot easier, just try and spread the paste without removing 1/2 of it then try the above method

much quicker, less mess, better result
