Thermal paste.?

Used the stock one the last time but pulling the chip to try another one in there for a test. Time to invest in some decent paste.

Which one.?

Arctic Silver 5 is what I always use. Though, the first time I used the Noctua high grade stuff that came with my heatsink, and that was only 2 degrees hotter. But Arctic Silver 5 everytime for me.

lapped heatsink and cpu combined with as5 should see a good few degrees drop in temp

I have (and same for my friends) consistently found mx-2 better than as5 and no burn in period

OCZ Freeze Extreme is great thermal paste.

Another vote for MX-2 here. Pretty much the same performance as AS5, and you haven't got to worry about spilling any on the mobo because it's non-conductive. Happy days.

I've used both AS5 and MX-2.

MX-2 gave me better results.

I find it makes very little difference, so I just use bog standard Servisol silicone paste, got a huge 50g tube of it.
