Thermal paste

hello again guys, Im ordering my parts this weekend and im getting a corsair h50 cpu cooler and a intel i7 950, do I need to buy thermal paste? I have noticed on some specs thermal paste was included.

The H50 comes with pre applied paste,from what I gather its pretty decent too.

Saying that a spare tube of paste just in case you need to remount etc. isn't a bad idea to have to hand.

There is usually far too much paste when pre-applied. You'll normally get better results by cleaning it all off with IPA and applying fresh paste thinly (plenty of online instructions for best way). Having said that it probably won't make any significant difference unless you are overclocking.

Edit: Arctic Silver 5 is well respected.

I personally use MX3 but there was a thread on here a couple of days ago discussing what people think is the best, I cant seem to find it at the sec though or I would link it.

The general consensus seems to be that MX-3 is the best atm.
