I havent started a good fight in a bit, but this is a genuine question i just seen i have no MX5 left and i have a new GPU(used NV 2000) and a new CPU in the post.

before i just buy more MX5 is there anything that's just better but doesn't cost £90. or do i just buy MX5

Unless doing bleeding edge overclocking most of the long standing mainstream pastes are fine - some have updates in more recent years which are better but a lot of the tweaks are to improve the tolerances for different application styles as some people persist in ignoring the application instructions and go with whatever approach albeit the difference is often only 1-2C.

Thermal Grizzly is a lot of people's go to paste now but personally I've found it isn't as fire and forget as some of the established pastes needing redoing after a 1-3 years or so when others have held up fine for 10.

wasn`t there some problems recently with mx5?
maybe get some mx6 :)

Shouldn't be any stock of affected MX5 for sale - though a lot of places seem to have pulled it entirely. Sadly those kind of issues with premature hardening, etc. seem to affect a lot of new pastes actually - one of the reasons I tend to stick to the older tried and tested variants I know will be close for thermal performance and last years.
