Thermal Tape

Hi guys, just have a quick question. Im ordering an Accelero Mono Plus tonight - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-043-AR and i know you can either mix the glue provided, which i have no intention of even trying or buy thermal tape. So i need to know which tape to get. Was looking at this - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=TH-001-AK

Is that the correct stuff guys.

Yes. It's the right stuff. I used that tape on my older 7850. It works very well. Just make sure all chips are super clean before you use tape. Otherwise your heatsinks might fall off. The tape worked a treat.

I am interested to see your 'before' and 'after' temps if you don't mind and what the noise level is.

Yeah i will clean them properly with TIM. cheers guys, hope this one works out better than the accelero twin turbo 2, which never fitted !

And yeah thats np ill do that mate, and ill take some piccies too.

Don't use tim remover on the vrams if your using tape as it won't bond very well.

Give them a good rub with an eraser then do it again and again, this gives the tape the very best contact.

I just used that tape on my VRM's and it works great. Just make sure you use the erasor trick.

I've used this within a laptop and it couldn't cope. Not recommended for CPUs and GPUs so I had to take it off. It even says that on Akasa package (which I have on the desk with me) that you shouldn't use this for GPUs & CPUs.

The tape is only recommended for memory chips & chipsets only.

Ordered my cooler and tape today from ocuk, coming tomorrow, when im putting pictures on here. What do i use ? is dropbox ok

filebeam.com or postimage.org(tick family safe though) is the ones I use on here.

Good luck with the install-take your time and rub those vrams thoroughly.

Cheers mate, wasnt sure what people used. Ill get some pics up later, fitted it, was easy. Idle temps 21 degrees. Will do some proper testing later on.

Just ran the Heaven 4.0 Benchmark. Maxed it all out, extreme tesselation, quality ultra, aa x8, full screen etc. Max temp hit 42. Seems great so far

Ran all sorts of tests now, 44 is the max temperature this card reaches. So ill do some overclocking and ill keep all the records, then ill post everything with pictures.

is using tape advised now i have never used it and would have thought it was hard to get off?

Np, great temps btw, is it quieter as most report the 670 cooler as quiet anyway apart from an annoying buzz?

The akasa tape doesn't rip, been using it for years now and if you are really careful, you can re-use it too.
