I've read a few reviews stating it is better than the Noctua...

The King is dead? Long live the King?

Not read any reviews yet, but having owned three different Thermalright CPU heatsinks and 2 different Thermalright GPU Heatsinks, as well as there NB and Memory cooling solutions I can 100% recommend Thermalright as top quality product maker.

I've short listed the Archon for my Sandybridge build. I've read some good reviews.

The reason I going with the Archon is it shouldn't impede the memory slots on the motherboard. But remember this cooler is very tall! It's 170mm (from memory) so make sure it will fit your case. There are some videos on you tube as well.

Have only managed to find one supplier in the UK. Shame OCUK don't stock it.

Seems OcUK have dropped all there Thermalright heatsinks, which is a shame.

Having read some reviews, its nothing that warrants an upgrade over my current VenomousX.

Edit: That's not to say its a bad cooler (far from it, if I was buying a new cooler it would be top of my list), I guess it just shows that HSF technology isn't massively improving.

Mike306, Ive noticed on the review that it only supports 1156 fittings, but I cant comment. Might be worth checking the website.

Thanks for info, will double check.

I had looked on the Thermalright website and the "Thermalright Archon Motherboard Compatible List (MCL)" says that it is "Okay" with the Asus P8P67 Pro mobo I was going for. So I guess it should fit 1155

Anything that supports 1156 also supports 1155. They are made to the same specification, which most importantly includes exactly the same hole spacing on the motherboards.

Got mine today omg it's superb so far, fits fine in my fortress ft01.

Haven't got any tim cleaner so bear in mind just cleaned it up with tissue paper.

I did a bodge job on the mx3 tried a line method put way too much on but just wanted to test this thing so left it, shall do blob in middle method later or tomorrow.Watery like substance came out of the mx3 tube had to dab that with toilet paper.

Tightened the pressure plate to reasonable amount going anti clockwise.
Using the stock fan only pushing at it's full 1300rpm very quiet and best of all look at first results.Pretty scarily good wonder what adding another 120mm fan pulling or 140mm will do.

This was at 1.42 voltage set in bios and 3.5ghz please bear in mind it hit 77c ONCE in the entire run rest of the time it didn't want to go above 74-75c.
Superb cooler now cant wait to remount and add another fan.

As you can see I have some of the highest heatsinks going for memory the reaper X and fitting is no problem.

easier than my tuniq tower very easy in fact cant install fan until you have the pressure plate attached through the middle other than that very very unfiddly and easy its like the venomous x.

bearing in mind i am 99% sure the mx3 was a botch job and I haven't even fiddled with the pressure yet

Looks the biz, nice to see that it wont interfere with reaper ram. Look forward to seeing how it fares with another fan on it.
