I have this cooler currently in my S754 AMD XP 3200+ system from sometime in 2006. Just getting the bits for my new AM3 system and was wondering if it is usable at all in an AM3 system?

Well their website says it's compatible with AM2, which has the same mounting as AM3. It should work; do you still have the different mounting kits that came with the cooler? It might not use the same one as you used with the s754.

They do the bolt-through kits separately usually. Check around the major retailers - there's one that does almost every Thermalright product, inc bolt-through kits.

my xp120 used the P4 mounting bracket (4 large clips on each side bolted through the motherboard) so if your motherboard just has the 2 screw through holes at each side then you should be able to use your current bracket.

Ok will have a look when mobo arrives. If it does fit then theres no performance issue with using it? as the reference cooler looks incredibly weedy in comparison :p
