Hi guys, I've been thinking of getting this case for my new system I'm building. I want a case with the ****-off side fan just for the wow factor, well, that and the amount of air it can move and low noise levels :)

I was wondering if anyone has this case? I've been googling away trying to suss out the maximum clearance between the side fan and the mobo to work out what cooler will fit. I was hoping for a Zalman 9700 ... I'm thinking now I may go for a 9500, having seen a piccy of the 9700 on a Mobo (that things hideous!) I reckon it willl be in the way of the 250mm fan (or the other way around).

Any advice welcome! :)

Mate the novelty of the huge fan will wear off too soon.

Look at the-

Lian Li V1000+ in black

Akasa Eclipse

If you want the wow factor, check out the NZXT Lexa too.

By the way, go for a Scythe Ninja!

Can help a wee bit. My typhoon reaches out just past the centre line of the rear 120mm fan. I would guess about 80mm to side of case. Cant help regarding side fan as not got one yet. Site says its 250 x 250 x 30 mm. Typhoon is 103mm and 9700 is 142mm high so yes i would say it would be a tight fit indeed.

That Lian-Li case is pretty interesting ... ugly, but interesting :)

My only concern is that my system is going to contain 2xDVD writers, 4xHDD's, 3.5inch floppy and I want expansion room - hence the big case! I also don't want to rule the possiblity of squeezing in an 11inch long G80 or 2 + a TV tuner.

I thought the extra air flow on the mobo would help with my system - will be a 6300 Oc'd hopefully on a 500+FSB. The Lian's cooling design looks pretty neat, I just wonder if loading up a case that small with so much kit would screw it up though.

As for the cooler, I really cannot make my mind up. I keep hearing one minute its the Tuniq, the next the Ninja, more recently though I've seen more leaning toward the Zalman 9500 (although louder and performs well only when running flat out). I liked the idea of the 9700 because I thought (although not found a decent review) that the larger fan would help in the noise department. I wish I could find a decent review of the same system Oc'd with each of the top coolers to get a better idea of what will cool the most / quietest etc. know of any? buggered if I can find an up to date and in-depth enough review...

Ive got the case

looking down through the case i can say theres 2-3cm (more towards 3cm) clearance between the very top of the heatpipes on my artic cooling freezer 64 pro and the massive 25cm side fan, hope this helps

yea i would go for lian cause they are just so nice looking in person but i have heard a lot of good things about the amour so if you like the look of it you should go for it you could get so many fans in there the cooling is bond to be excellent

But maybe a little loud!

Check out Lian Li's first!

yea i would watch out cause if you intend to keep a case for a few years you could get very sick of the armour but the lian will not dates for many years
