hi all,
i was wondering would it be worth upgrading my CPU cooler from a coolermaster hyper 6+ to a Big Typhoon my idle temps are 35-38 and my load temps are 45 but this is with an akasa amber 92mm fan spinning at 1800rpm that can rach 3600 but its connected to a fan controler so i never put it up that high, the temps stated abouve are all at 1800rpm, i have overclocked my CPU ( c sig ) and i want it to be silent more than anything

i am actually going to upgrade to the big typhoon but i like to add my own thing by putting another fan ontop of the CPU fan u have no idea how well it works i did it with my currect stock p4 cpu fan 80mm and it allowed me to o/c it by like 300/400MHz and with the fan on this being 120mm no doubt it will be twice as good

I could reccomend the Thermalright XP-120 myself, got the cooler installed now and it's the best heatsink i've had. It's quiet with a decent 120mm fan and it's providing excellent cooling :) It gives very similar performance to the Big Typhoon IIRC, but there's less hassle invloved if you want to swap fans to a different model.

what temps

Temps below 50 with that clock? wouldn't bother changing mate. Your no way near the danger zone. Akasa Ambers at 1800RPM are pretty quiet, the other parts such as your GFX and PSU are going to make more noise than that!

dont think so ive just fitted a VF-700 CU LED to my graphics and my PSU has a silent akasa fan rated at 18db

the TT is supe rmega heavy, get the freezer

Its hardly heavy? and replacing the fan isnt a big task either..
It's a great cooler, i have one on my opteron

28C Idle and 37-40C load at 1.6vcore at 2.6

Great cooler for the price!
Im also using the fan that came with it and is completely silent

i also spotted they scythe ninja if i could strech my buget, looks to be a good cooler anyone have it with an overclocked 3700sd

It's not going to break the motherboard. I move my pc around a lot. If the weight of it was a problem then it wouldnt of been made?
