Hi all

Is the case mentioned in the title any good? Ive never used a tooll - free case before, is it easy to get the bits in and are the drive rails fiddly to use? I have 3 HDDs so does it provide enough rails? And can i use screws if id prefer to?

Seems like a bit of a bargain for £50. Anyone got any pics?

The tool free is a gimmic really.

Good case, beats the Tsunami for build quality quite comfortably.

The best deal for £50 is the Lian Li PC7+, just do a search of case central. ;)

The Antec Super Lanboy for £35 is also a STEAL, it is £70 at a few competitors and is along with the PC7+ probably the best value for money you will find.

Hmm, the lanboy is a no no, i just dont like it :p

However the Lian Li case you mention is a decent looking case and a definate contender. Does it come complete with the intake and exhaust fans?

Yeh, and the one OcUK are shipping at the moment seems to be the 120mm in and out one. :)

If you have not already do a search of the forums for the PC7+, lots of happy users about.

Hmm, the LANBOY is really beginning to change my mind after reading a few reviews. I especially like the way the HDDs go in.

Only thing is the case is silver and my optical drives and card reader are black. Still there hidden by the door i suppose.

I have a Soprano case with window, in glossy black flavour. Bought it for £46.94 last July. For the money it's very nice. Have had no problem with it at all and the case fans are quiet :)

There are 5 HDD Rails, so no problem there.

I'll have some photos up in a couple of moments.

Yewen: I've written a review of the case for your case review site but havn't got round to emailing it yet.

Get round to emailing it!

Will be doing a update mid week. :)

Good case, beats the Tsunami but for the price, with the Lanboy cheaper now I think its market has mostly been stolen.

The door does hide the drives, for the price of the case it is a ok evil to live with!

It is a £70 case for £35, overpriced initially but at £35 it is a steal, Lanboy for the win!

This is mine, without UV lights or cable tidy's I also couldn't be bothered to wire up them top usb ports, and hard drive leds and all this next mumbo jumbo, was too eager to get pc working, the case overall is good, the fans im very happy with, keeps my system running really cool, the case itself is good build except for the door is like a kid's toy, I already maneged to break it just from trying to open it, also the hard drive clip thingies SUCK, I mean they really suck 5 of them broke and the other are just not even holding the hard drive properly, btu hey its 50 pound case, for 50 pound its amazing, overall it looks nice too!

Thanks :)
I'm taking:
Maths, Dual Award Science, English, English Lit, French, Art, ICT and Geography.

Got an ICT exam on tuesday. Need 76/80 in it to secure myself an A* :o

Good luck!

English I found really easy, went up my own rear end in my writing and got a pair of A* and I hadnt even done the prep I should have.

Trick with them I found is to keep cool, the German listening exam I paniced on and I did poor.

If you feel a little nervous or freaked in the exam put your pen down for a second and get your thoughts together, then carry on.

Much better doing that than rushing and messing a whole answer up then panicing about it at the end!

thanks for the advice. Just need to secure a B in the english's so I can stay on at 6th form. Havn't applied elsewhere :o
The rest of the subjects I'm good for B's, A's and A*'s :)

I've emailed the Review by the way.

Thanks!

Just a bit to remember, it isnt the end of the world if you do not get the grades, colleges can be accomodating if you talk to them and are pro-active and keen. :)

College is not the only option either, one I am currently going down. Good luck again although I doubt you need it, I dossed my GCSE's completely, wish I had have put in at least some effort but I have come out the other side ok, so good luck!

Better let me know how you do in a few months now or I will wonder one night how you did. :p

Back on topic:

I have the Soprano myself, and tbh, I have mixed feelings about it.

Yes, for the price, its pretty hard to beat, but I've ended up modding the case to suit my needs. I removed the front door, cut out the plastic grill in front of the front intake mesh, removed the metal mesh in front of the intake fan, removed a lot of the tool free options (especially on the expansion slots - they just don't work for me). I've removed the USB/Front(top?) audio from the case as the cables hanging down just don't work for me.

Im also tempted to mount a 120mm fan on the side window, but need to find a mesh to cover it before I start cutting it up.

Previously, I've had the LianLi PC7 case and wish I had that instead ... but where money is tight, I've made do with this case.

IMHO, a case is going to last you a while - in hindsight, I'd wished I'd saved up a little more cash and gotten something better.

*Looking at a Coolermaster Stacker Case next, perhaps*

i hate the lanboys. great build, but that front looks too cheap.

the soprano's, well. tool free for the drives - wicked. For the cards - pig awful. screw the cards down because the card retention just doesnt work.

apart from that, they are good cases. plenty of space and cooling whilst remaining quiet.
