Thermaltake Tsunami Dream

I used to have one of these cases, even reviewed it:

IIRC - if you have a hard drive in the bay by the graphics card slot, it was even a close fit with a 9700, so if there's a drive there I don't think an 8800 will fit.

without a drive - not sure, grab a ruler out - the length of the 8800 is ~ 27.5cm

tastywheat what is your email RE: your graphics cards for sale :D

Don't think it will fit, my 7900GTO is pushing it as it is, rendering the 3rd and 4th drive bays useless. Being longer still, I don't think the 8800 will fit in front of the HD cage :(

ive got a silver tsunami dream. with a ati x1900xt by powercolor. it fits but i can only fit 4 hdd's (which i have got in there atm). thinking about upgrading to a CM Stacker with loads of room.

I've nly got 2 hdd

You won't be able to fit a GTX unless you remove the whole HDD bay, my GTS fits but blocks the 3rd HDD slot and makes it very tight with one in the 2nd.

If you get a GTX, remove your HDD bay and put your HDDs in the flobby bays ... also you'll probobly need to open both doors to get a good air flow through - i've got a delta in there with the grill removed and the temps are 10°C higher with the doors shut.

Just had to buy a bigger case to have the GTX 8800.
Thermaltake tsunami is a nice case but you will definately have to remove the hdd cage at the bottom. You have the option of installing a single HD below the floppy but leaves no room for extra drives.

Just got a thermaltake eureka, has loads of room. Now have a Tsunami Dream to sell on Ebay.

If you can live with one HDD, possibly another in the floppy bay or even get a few 5.25 HDD bays, which will cost you more in the long run.

I initially bought a couple of icybox external sata boxes as had an external sata bracket.

I would not recommend this case for any 8800 series cards, even a 7800gtx card limits the amount of usuable HDD space in the cage as the drives.

Beleive me I have had both, avoid this case if you have big cards or want SLI.

Other than that its a superb solid looking case, just has out grown its usefulness with todays graphics cards.

Remove front HDD cage, it will then fit.. SORTED :D

That's all well, but where do the HDDs go?

It's a shame that Thermaltake don't sell a smaller cage for this very reason.

I love this case and don't really fancy buying another one just to house a new GC. :(

I have the Tsunami Dream Midi ATX with an 8800 GTX installed on an Asus P5N32-E SLI MB. The installation is initially tricky but where I only have one 8800 card I just removed the lower 3.5" drive bays, connected up my drives and Fans and installed the 8800 GTX. I then very carefully replaced the 3.5" drive bay. No problem. The bay just touches the card but does not interfere with it. You are limited on space to install SATA drives unless you install your DVD ROM and DVD RW drive externally. On my MB the SATA ports are mounted facing the front case fan so you have to take the Bay out to install a lead for each drive you install. But thats the ASUS MB for you. With a single 8800 on boot up and install of XP and 3DMK06 I got a score of 10007 without over clocking and with 2GB of OCZ DDR II 6400 800 RAM running at bios standard latency settings for DUAL Channel Ram. I haven't updated the Bios yet but I am waiting for Nvidia to solve their driver problems in Vista b4 I start playing about with the settings. In Vista My lowest score is my Ram at 4.8, CPU 5.3, Aero 5.9 Desktop Graphics 5.9, HD 5.8.

In short terms I does fit. Though you may have more room in the Thermaltake Shark bu that's a full tower, but it gives you more drive bays for about the same price. Good Luck.

I have this case, it has housed my old 6800 Ultra no problem with space issues, and it is now housing my 8800 GTS even with my HDD in the top bay of the HDD cage.
