Hi everyone,

I suspect my car has a broken thermostat as the climate control is nearly useless all the time and doesn't blow out air unless you are moving at 50MPH+, although never had any experience with climate control. When it is iced over and you turn on the heat to the windscreen nothing happens. Also, when driving down the motorway, the temperature needle drops from the middle to around the quarter mark.

It's a Saab 9-5 on 175K, so probably due a change as I don't know when it was last done. I was going to try and do it myself however I have never done anything car related in my life bar change wheels/bulbs. I was just wondering if anyone has experience of changing thermostat's and how difficult they are?

Cheers

Thanks. I am just reading that! Doesn't look too bad, just I've never done anything.

Stupid question, on the first page the picture with "Bleeder hole" on the bottom right, is that the thermostat or is it inside the car?
