Are these temps normal/too high?, i mean considering the chip and voltage.. most of the bios is set to auto.

The ambient in my room is around 26.3-26.5c

Seems ok since your voltage is 1.416V!
Can't you lower the voltage any further? 1.416 seems dangerous. Im assuming you set the VID to auto in the bios?
Also what cooler are you using?

Just realised its on water. 80 degrees seems reasonable considering your voltage but the main issue is that your voltage shouldnt be so high. I know for d0 stepping intels safety is anything lower than 1.35 volts.

You know that do you? Care to define 'intels safety' for the rest of us?

My 920 makes it over 70 at that sort of voltage using an ek supreme. Im sure ive seen it pass 80 occasionally. If youre stable, no worries.

At 1.4v ish youre probably on the bad side of 250w. Thats a lot of heat for the block to cope with, thats all.

Yes i left it at auto, just to test, i watched the temperatures for a bit to make sure they didn't get too high before i left it run.

cooler is MCR Drive 320 + apogee XT block, 3 1150rpm scythe GT's

Not to be funny mate but no one will ever run a 920 with 1.4+ volts at 3.7GHz,so you will never know if the temps are right,

Go and get it to 4.0GHz with about 1.35Volts and you will be in with a chance to compare.

ill need to get back to you once on a computer that can read pdf files. Ill summarise by saying their specs apply at stock, and the chip isnt at stock.

He's at 3.7 ghz, 1.4v? Damn my lack of pictures. I assumed 4.5ish based on the voltage. Op, your temps are stupid high for 3.7 ghz because youre using far too much voltage. More voltage makes things much hotter.

The op is running a CO stepping chip, not a DO, the CO's generally require more voltage for a given clockspeed.

1.35v was no good it gave game stuttering, nor was 1.36 bsod/reboot with large fft test. so trying 1.37

maybe 4ghz is unrealistic for my cpu anyway because it is a c0, could be a waste of time?

it might need more voltage, but i don't know yet.

I loaded event viewer and i was scrolling through the event list and it gave the error "has stopped working", would this be oc related or can it crash anyway? i did a google search and heard of problems with it before but not like this, it happened the once.

I am sure even with the voltage on auto before, i got some dragging of the framerate a couple of times in l4d2.. noticed it a lot and skipping etc.

so i completed 4 hrs or so of prime, i decided to try 8 hours but it failed after just 2 and a half and screen was blank when i got back to it. what sense does that make?

now i just completed 5 hours but with 3.9v temps max according to real temp was 77c
