Thick metal ring in PC case?

I just put together my machine an noticed a thick metal ring about 1 inch in diameter, what is this for!?
 
It's magnetic to reduce electromagnetic radiation. Not hugely important these days, but theres no need to take it out!
 
It's a RF choke, you wrap the wires from the front panel through it a couple of times. It reduces interference pickup. Any noise that the LED cables picks up could light up the LED's, so the choke stops it.
 
So all the talk about never putting speakers near pcs is a complete load of rubbish then :/
Looks like I may do a mod I've been wanting to do of mounting some semi decent speakers in my case :p
