nope, ive got the drivers for the 360 installed, but i always leave the control unplugged (in a draw) when im not using it.

i miss this game :(

Go to Game controllers in your control panel and remove the device for your 360 controller and then try. It may still be affecting it in an odd way.

ok, i removed anything in the default ini to do with joypads (menu and ingame setting) and still had the issue, i also removed the 360 conteroller from hardware list... no more drivers installed.

i suggested to my mate it might be the scroll wheel as it is quite a old game

what do you guys think?

hmm, strange, I had a problem in MGS2 where Snake would keep running up, regardless of which direction I pressed, I found out that it was a problem with my PS2 joypad converter where either 2 weren't plugged in or none were, I can't remember. =/

OT/ re: scroll wheel, I personally think it's unlikely, tbh. How many lines does it scroll on one press up/down?

Try pressing the up key / pageup key on the keyboard. It might think the key is pressed down for some reason..? Have you tried clicking on the up arrow on the scroll bar before scrolling down, too?

tried that furnface, still no joy, tried everything else been suggested, still no joy, ive uninstalled and reinstalled the game about 15 times now, still nodda!

:(

I used to have the same problem when I was using a Saitek Eclipse keyboard. I can't remember exactly, but I believe I had to disable a couple of the 'human interface device' entries for the k/b in device manager (there were about 5 altogether). Do you constantly walk forward when playing the game as well?

Do you have a ps2 keyboard you could try to see if it solves the problem?

ive got the saitek eclipse keyboard, dont have the pad plugged in, but its sat on my desk as a glorified mug mat.

ill try and play the game lol, not tried that yet :D

even more odd. i move foward and strafe left automatically, until i press the S and D key lol. once i press those keys, i can neither walk foward or strafe right.

I've found the info from the last time I had this problem, since you have the same keyboard it should work:

Q2: I'm having problems with some games when I try and run them with the Gamers' Keyboard plugged in - what can I do?

A2: There are a couple of known games that have issues with the presence of the Gamers' Keyboard; known titles that have problems are the moment are Planetside, Star Wars: Battlefront and Thief: Deadly Shadows. Other titles may exist that have problems but they have not been reported yet.

There is a possible solution though - Click Start>Control Panel and open the System in there (you may have to click Performance and Maintenance before you can see the System icon if you're running Control Panel in Category View) and then click Hardware at the top of the window that comes up and then click Device Manager. Click the plus sign next to Human Interface Devices in the list of devices and you should see one or two (maybe more) entries called USB Human Interface Device. You need to disable one of them by right-clicking it and choosing Disable from the drop-down list of options.

Note: If you have only two such entries there in Device Manager then only one will be able to be disabled - the other will have the disable option greyed out in the drop-down list when you right click it. If however you have more than two such entries in Device Manager then you will need to ewnsure that you disable the correct one. This is done by double clicking on each one in turn and looking at what it says next to Location on the Properties page. The one that should be disabled will say USB Gaming Keyboard Pro next to Location. Once you have disabled that then try the game again and it should work fine.

kotFM, that worked a treat :D

heres a little screenie to celebrate on the training. I LOVE THIS GAME!

graphics arnt that bad considering how old this game is, but from what i remember, the game play its self was much more advaced than its counterparts.

anyone know if there has been any texture mods released for this god like game?

Glad you got it sorted out!

Have a look on the wiki page for thief: deadly shadows - there's a link to a texture mod there.

I've only just re-installed this myself. I'm taking it slowly while I build up the courage to visit the Cradle again;)

wow, just done the first mission :D:D:D

cheers for the texture mod :D

ill get that done and sorted, really cant wait to play this game through again.

also, i forgot how funny the voices are lol "thought i heard summin... must a been whatsa call it.. ummm... trick of the light! thats it!" hehe :D in a southern british voice.

Yeah, just heading off to Terces courtyard to meet the Keepers, having sold the Bloodline opal to Bertha. I love it when you overhear the guards muttering about their employers.

I've just realised that I could never 'ghost' this game, as soon as someone turns their back I have an overwhelming urge to crack them over the head with the blackjack!

*thunk!*
*uuurgh!*
*drags body off to quiet corner somewhere*
