Thing in the sky?

For the past three days or so, there has been a little light in the sky, that looks like a star, except it flashes every so often between white and red.

Are there any planets visible at this time of the year, and could this be one of them?

What part of the sky?

The flashing you are seeing is due to our atmosphere bending and playing with the light of the objects in space.

With planets.. right now Jupiter is visable quite low in the south-east and stands out looking like a very bright star.

Pretty much the same here. I can just see the moon light leaking out within the clouds. Looks great.

I love just watching the sky at night.

Yeah I love watching the sky at night.. I keep missing it though and end up randomly catching it when it is on every so often. Did you also watch the moon programs tonight on BBC4? For all mankind was amazing shame I missed an hour of it. It showed lots of footage which doesn't get shown so often.. was great.
