things at work that make you cringe?

For me, it has to be the buzzwords, acronyms, and jargon. "We can leverage the...", "I'll action that now...", "Knock some heads together", etc etc. The worst thing is it has started creeping into my vocabulary too, and I end up spouting this rubbish too.

People at work say "I'll touch base with X" quite a lot. The only thing I could think of was American pie where they talk about 1st/2nd/3rd base. Made it much more amusing.

Workplaces that are retirement homes for incompetent *******, who can't get a job elsewhere. Often these 'managers' are paid lots of money to talk ****, delegate their work to others, take the glory when things go well and blame others when it doesn't.

project managers. After 8 years in my chosen career, I'm still struggling to work out what their purpose is. Having to politely ignore their uselessness is just embarrassing at times.

Their purpose is to be over paid, to badly underestimate and under budget a project and to task people's workload as over 120% and are ultimately there to take the blame.

Listening to the Filipino crew members butchering the classics on the painfully bad karaoke machine in the crew mess. Or trying to do a rap song in Tagalog. I normally have to leave the room to prevent myself laughing in their faces when they start that. They take it really, really seriously as well.

Definitely the buzzwords that get on my nerves most, including but not limited to:

lets touch base
Moving Forward
Keep me in the loop

Also, brown nosers, women who act like men, disappearing every 5 minutes and coming back with flapjacks and coffees and talking about work in the pub after work.

I come to the pub to forget about work, not talk about it.

Other things get me as well, like those stupid metal mugs you see people sitting at bus stops with and drinking coffee. Why not just buy a take away coffee.

Lots and lots of things. The military - just as disorganised as the rest of the world, but pretends it's not.

BBC Radio 2

I have never heard anything so boring in my life. But Im totally outnumbered since the rest of the office loves it.

In the afternoon I really feel the pain because theres this annoying "DJ" who comes on and says "Todays oldies are chosen by blah blah blah" and oh man I dont like oldies but even I can tell its the SAME tracks these people pick. Even the new stuff is the SAME stuff over and over. Its like they have an MP3 player set to loop.

Right now the song they beat into a bloody pulp goes something like "blah blah blah across the ocean, blah blah blah across the sea, wish I was blah blah blah" and another one that goes "Oooooooopen up your aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrms let me iiiiiiiiiiin let me iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin"

These two are guaranteed repeats.

Im gonna request that on Fridays we be allowed to change station although I dont have much hope for anything better. Online streaming where its @ but no way thats gonna be allowed!

This is the only thing that makes me cringe @ work! Im lucky my workmates are all cool and although my boss has her moments shes easy going and fair.

No Xmass bonuses :(

I'm not at work, but I have an office at uni I share with other people, our own computers and desks etc.

There is this one guy who just constantly sits on the office phone speaking (in French). There's a sort of kebab type shop opposite the building called Mahmeed. He lives off it. Every day it's some sort of burger and chips for lunch. I can smell the grease and it makes me cringe :(.

Where I worked we had an on site restaurant. Every day my colleague used to stink the gaff out with her healthy healthy fishy foods like tuna, salmon sandwiches and seafood chowder, so every Friday I got my own back by eating a massive greasy fry up at my desk. You could see her go green at the mere whiff of it. Bitch.

I'm not stinking the place out with my apple and smoothie :p. I just think it's nasty someone can live on takeaway (and not even good takeaway food at that). This place opposite is not very nice looking anyway ...

The guy next to him, not so much annoying but I find it funny - he has a ring tone, or maybe text tone that is one of those calls people do from mosque towers. I can't help but burst out laughing everytime it goes off :D.
