Things I don't like (TIDL) thread

Brexit. People care too much. It's done, just go with the flow, let the government and businesses hash it out over the next decade, step 3 ???, sit back and enjoy the prosperity :D

What were you meant to be blowing up at Channel Island? I wasnt aware that there was any major construction going on out there

It was when we were building it originally. :) It was the main electrical pit (solid as, sheer rock) on the rhs about 50m in from the gate / bridge. The jackhammer on the 10 ton excavator couldn't get through the rock lower than the first 5 metres.

The utes, 4wd's etc of the concretors - who were doing a 24 hour pour 9 ft deep on one of the main slabs - got smashed, many down to the axles, along with the security guard booth in the meteorite shower. Thankfully it missed the on-site concrete plant and crane.

The main prob was the 45 degree wall pattern depths should have been the ones for the pit floor. It ended up being a major cannon destroying almost everything in its path for about 70-100m.

It was a tense drive back from the site to the Palmerston caravan park the next morning in a police car with the chief engineer and the project manager to retrieve the drill pattern from the top pocket of my still-sweat-soaked flanno shirt. It took them less than 60 seconds after I handed it over for them to fire the earthworks manager by phone.

Realising i never changed my address on my car, the tax ran out in May, i phoned up and found there was an £80 fine to pay, then have to pay £25 for a new V5 and then also pay for the tax itself :(

People who beep their horn just to get someone's attention as they drive past.

Those who don't clean up after their dog (big issues along the canal here)

People who hold petty little grudges.

A chunk of the family are linked in a common WhatsApp group, grinds my gears when the younger ones severely shorten given names, e.g. Char for Charlie, Kel for Kelly, von for Yvonne, Debs for Deborah, the star prize goes to Zo for Zoe.
More hair tearing occurs when some of them, in their 30s and 40s, siblings, will refer to their parents as mummy and daddy, as in, I saw Mummy in the week, she said Daddy will be there.
ETA, moronic minicab drivers who sound their horn outside someone’s house, rather than ringing the bell, or knocking on the door.

People who take a trolley fully of groceries to the self checkout, then realise they don't have enough space on the scale, it would have been faster for them to use a normal checkout.

Oh in jumping on this one to add those that stand in the queue at the checkout but then only fish their card out when it's time to pay. Find it whilst you wait you idiot!

That's an issue in general as everyone seems to have a dog now.

Hardily see it here in Switzerland.

Yeah it's a real shame over here. Not sure what's worse, ignoring it completely or picking it up with a poo bag and then dumping the bag!

I see that and raise you Oyster Card users who wait until they’re standing at the barriers to start searching for their card.

Touche! Probably the same people.

And those old ladies (it’s always old ladies) who for some reason have multiple accounts and decide to check them all at the ATM. Not only does that take forever, they have to search their little diary for the individual pin on each account.
ARGH!

Lol. Yup it is. Share your pain there too!

Depends where it's being dumped and whether they're using biodegradable bags...

Usually just in hedgerows or alongside the path. Some even seem to tie it to branches. I assume with the intention of picking it up on the way back and then never actually bothering.

I've never had that, but I do get annoyed at the women who faff about with say a purse/handbag... just step to the side FFS and sort your **** out without blocking the machine. Likewise if there is a queue then take the card out while you're in the queue, don't get to the front of the queue and suddenly realise you've got to go through your handbag, get your purse, find the card etc..
