Doubt its insurance fraud. Theyll have wanted the building out of the way so they can go for a residential build. Hopefully the council arent complicit and see through it.

It was always on quite a bit of land, you drive through a "track" to reach it. Lots of space. Really, really sad. The previous landlords were crap at marketing it properly though.

(Then again given that they apparently already lost control of the pub (and it was closed?) as a result of a break in + the sale to a developer I'm not sure the fire has much relevance to their or the staff's current predicament).

Reminds me of the time a developer bought a (possibly listed?) pub somewhere in west London and knocked it down to build flats - before they put in for any planning permission. The council made them rebuild the entire pub from scratch. Maybe they’ll do the same here?
