Hi all,

Thinking of going to Bournemouth soon apart from the beach

what else can I do down there with the mrs? (apart from sex on the beach thanks)

Theres a big cimema right next to the beach plus the very well kept gardens behind that. failing that shopping or drinking really

Thanks might give those places a go.

I've been to Weymouth the beaches looked good
do you reckon the beaches in Bournemouth are the same?

Live out your fantasy of getting laid by 10 grannies at once? It's practically a retirement home!

I stayed in Bournemouth for 10 months. It was far from a retirement home. Lots of students, and a hectic night life.

It's basically the town where old people emigrate south to die.

Complete poop to be honest.

I lived there for 2 years and it's far from an old people's town. Loads of students, loads of local young people, not that many old people if I'm quite honest.

As for the beach, Bournemouth itself is a crap beach, Sandbanks is a much better one, which is a shortish walk down Bournemouth beach towards Poole iirc.

Lived here 9 years now and originaly came here as a student.

Its become very student orientated, so lots of bars and clubs.
Although at the moment think those attending Bournemouth Uni are off till Sept.

Lots of students from over seas around at this time of year though, attending the launguage schools (of which there are LOADS) and plenty of stag and hen parties etc about aswell. So can be quite busy.

Other than drinking and eating youve pretty much got the gardens and the beach.
The IMAX Cinema on the beach is no longer open, although there are other cinemas close by...but not something you would travel here for and the bowling Alley closed down ages ago.

Guess there is always the Bournemouth International Center (BIC) which might have a show or concert on that you might be interested in.

As someone else pointed out, there is the bournemouth airshow starting 20th.
Last year was really really good and as I work in town even had the treat of a Euro Fighter belt it past the office!

There's quite a bit to do really, all quite close by as well.

Balloon ride, beach front amusements, Aquarium thing, Laser Quest (which we did yesterday, was fun but way too hot a day!), Bournemouth Pier + Theatre bit which runs along the beach.

The view on a good day is also amazing:
