Things to do in Paris?

Sainte Chapelle on île de la cité is worth a look, can then go on to Notre Dame but you’ll need to pre book tickets.
The Petit Palais has a nice coffee shop and cakes if you’re in there.
Sacre Coeur I think is a bit overrated and the steps at the very bottom are full of the usual tat sellers, but has great views over Paris.
Place Vendôme if you want to see where the rich buy their stuff and fancy a drink in the ritz.

Then the usual stuff others have mentioned.

Not sure when you are coming but layers are good, nights are chilly but during the day a light jacket can be enough.

Montparnasse tower used to have a bar at the very top, might be worth checking out for the view.

and very expensive.
We stayed in a hotel that didn't even have a toaster and no English tea, luckily Mrs Sexy always takes Yorkshire Tea Bags on holiday with us (but not a toaster).

Its expensive but that didnt bother me,

What bothered me, was i just found some of the locations not really that exciting

and food, was a bit weird, i went out for a steak one night it was tiny, hardly touched the sides, that did it for me!

I would prefer for instance Prague over Paris

I think I went to Paris when it was winter, so it was quite also cold , wet etc

Do most hotels have toasters?

First hotel I've ever been in abroad without a toaster for breakfast.
Spain always have them and in recent years been to Berlin, Budapest, Holland, Prague, Krakow and a host of others.
I'm positive this hotel in Paris did it on purpose, every Brit on our coach was asking for normal tea and a toaster and it is an Hotel used by the coach company and others all the time.
When we got back the Mrs went on Tripadvisor and it was mentioned loads.

That's because you should have bean eating baguettes and drinking wine :p

We did 2 days in Paris in April. I enjoyed it mainly for the architecture and the history of it all but I wouldn't be in any particular rush to get back.

I didn't find a lot of the attractions to be that close together, walking from the Eifel Tower, to Notre Dame, to Sacre Cour would have taken hours and would be about 6 miles I reckon.

Paris was the first place I've ever got one of those open top tour buses to get to all of the big tourist spots and I would highly recommend it, even though it cost about £120 for 3 of us.

You can get the metro to get around. We did it a few times. It's rough as **** but I imagine it's not massively unsafe, it just feels it.

We found the Latin quarter to be good for a range of bars and restaurants but there's places to get food pretty much everywhere.

If I went back I would probably do a boat tour down the Seine and maybe brave the massive queue to actually go in the Louvre but I didn't come away from Paris thinking it was amazing.

Thanks again for all the replies, much appreciated.

We're stupidly/romantically going for 4 nights over Valentine's weekend, so I'm sure it will be nice and quiet...

So far we're thinking :-

Eiffel Tower
Seine Cruise
Montparnasse Tower
Louvre
Notre Dame
Sacre Cour
Versailles
Possibly watch Paris FC at home on the 15th

Failing all that, nice beer and food will suffice! ;)

I went here, many many years ago on a work organized weekend trip.

One of the few things I remember, apart from complete lack of sleep for 2 nights & the amount of car crashes on the Arc de Triomphe roudabout, as well as not seeing a single undamaged car parked up in Paris itself. If you think people's driving is bad here, going to Paris opened my eyes at age 25 back then & I'm 60 now.

Funnily enough, that's one of my lasting memories from our school trip, the traffic was absolutely crazy at the Arc De Triomphe, I've no idea how we didn't see any crashes.

That museum looks great, the Mrs will love that, thank you.

If you're going over Valentines, make sure you book resturants way before you leave, everywhere will be full! Especially in the tourist parts.

We're going to book for the 14th this weekend, I did think it would be busy, but if we can't get in anywhere, I can always treat her to a Royale with cheese! :)

Productive night last night, managed to book :-

Montparnasse Tower rooftop, River Seine cruise, and Le Petit Medicis restaurant for the 14th

Arc de Triomphe entry ticket and rooftop access for the 15th

Eiffel Tower top floor and glass of champagne for the 16th (normal tickets sold out, so why not?)

Should keep us busy and get our steps in, thanks again for the replies.
