Next week im off to the tropical getaway of Skegness, the last time I went was as a kid some 20 years ago so my memories are a bit out of date.

What is there to do entertainment wise for adults and young children in Skegness, and do you know of any nice villages or places to visit within 10ish miles of Skegness? And of course where are the places to eat, any cuisine?

Also where is the best sandy beach in the area as we are expecting to spend a lot of time there, weather permitting :D

Skeggy is awesome.

Go to Natureland with the kids, they'll love seeing the Seals. (go to the tourist information place first as you can get vouchers to get kids in free or something along those lines)

Also the big pub right near it that looks like a castle has a big play-gym / ball pit effort that kids can get into for a quid while you have some lunch and a beer.

Further up the front is Panda's Palace that is an absolutely colossal play-gym, which again the kids will love.

There's also a lot of excellent themed mini-golf courses all along the front.

You can also go see the Lifeboats for free (down at the beach front).

Of course there is a load of arcades if that's your thing.

Few miles out is http://www.fantasyisland.co.uk/ which is good for a day out :)

For evening entertainment you've got the http://www.embassytheatre.co.uk/ that has loads of shows etc. on

You can also pay to access the Butlins park, which again has a load of shows and rides to go on.

Skegness Stadium has Monster-trucks and skydiving shows etc. through most of the year.

So yeah, there's a fair bit to do in good ol' Skeggy :D

Take a gun to shoot yourself,. You'll be thankful. Dull and boring seaside town that's just all wrong..!!!

Go someplace else, its a tired old place that has nothing to do at all..

Thanks for the sensible reply :D . Sounds like a fair few things to do and ill certainly take most, if not all, of those options up.

Do you know of any nice restuarants for a romantic evening meal, without the kids of course (Grandparents looking after) :p

We went last year, more for a laugh than anything else and had a cracking day at the stadium, Big Foot, stock car racing, caravan demolition derby - excellent! My two boys loved it but it is proper noisy!

I'm heading to SkegVegas this sunday and looking forward to it. My mum is having the kids for the day so I'm going with my wife and some mates...should be a laugh :-) Not sure what there is to do myself though :/

Im about 20 minutes drive from skeg but if the need arrives and my gf bugs me to go to the sea side I will drive the hour and a half to hunstanton instead. Skeg is a real hole although I loved bulins as a kid most likely because I was not smart enough to see the bigger picture.

I live in the town everyone goes through to get to skegg the traffic here is horrendous mid session, skegg is a real rat hole.

+1 skegg is an absolute dump, i live not to far away and my girlfriend used to live there (on the outskirts though), we only ever go when we have to, its the one place we are always glad to leave.
