Ok so i'm thinking of a day trip to York, anyone any recommendations? I'm looking for a cheap day with the bf (students :D) and would like some nice things to do.

Thanks
SB

Go have a nice walk down by the riverside.
Go visit the minster
Go to the railway museum
Go to the Art gallery
Go down the shops.
Maybe go and visit Cliffords tower

Not the best advice but it's some stuff to do, it's a nice city I miss york much better than Manchester, nice walk around there. I dont know if they'll have boat trips on around the river yet, it's possible.

I've never been, but everybody I've spoken to says it's a nice place, and nice on a sunny afternoon, so that's what I'm hoping for.
Thanks for the help :D

I'm going to York for a long weekend in July. I hope to do some of those things, but I also fancy taking in the Jorvic? centre and some of the museums. My problem is finding a decent hotel.

I live in York at the moment.

Main recommendation would be to goto the Minster. I walk past it everyday on my way to work and it really is an extremely impressive building. When you go inside you realise how massive it is.

The other obvious choices would be the Jorvik centre, the York Dungeon, Clifford's Tower (York Castle) and the Castle museum. Be aware though, that none of it is cheap, especially for a student. Also if you go at the weekend at this time of year it will be extremely busy. The queues for something like the Jorvik centre go way out of the door.

Ghost tour - there's several that go from outside the Minster

Yorkshire Aircraft Museum - just outside York by the A1 at Elvington. Has a running Handley-Page Victor which does fast taxi runs in the summer.

Anyone see Dara O'berien talk about the railway museum in york? :D

Only other thing to do is leave....... (yeah i didnt really like it after a while when i did a uni day trip there)
