My Mum was given an engagement present of a painting by my Dad over 35 years ago and they separated around 10 years ago. Its a lovely painting of fishing boats in Brixham harbour.
Since that time, the painting has been kept to one side and to be honest, didn't go with the house due to its style. It has always been treasured though and it is beautifully painted.
Anyways we tried to sell it for ages and no joy.
Fast forward to present day and I recently moved into a house in London. The current housemate has a job relating to fish wholesale and I was asking random questions about where the fish came from and he said mainly Brixham. I asked if he would be interested in a painting and he said yes as he has a very close friend down there and wanted to gift it as a present.
Turns out his close friend actually went to school with the artist's son and would love the painting.
Just thought it is quite a happy ending and funny how life works.
