I was messing around with the clocks on my GTS250 when I accidentally clicked apply on the maximum settings for core and shaders (they were linked). This equated to ~2000MHz core and 2400MHz shader. The system crashed which is understandable!

With everything at standard clocks, the problem I'm having now is that I'm not getting any artifacts in AtiTool, but I'm having really poor performance in games.

I used to get around 30fps in Crysis with everything on full, but now I get about 10. The performance in COD5 has reduced to a third of what it was and even Tomb Raider Underworld is performing poorly. TF2 hasn't been that badly effected though although it has slightly.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could have happened?

I did that to my 8800gt a while ago. System went down pretty hard, and ran fairly badly after reboot. Removing the overclocking programs and reinstalling drivers brought things back to normal for me, which I was relieved by.

As for what went wrong, nope, can't help. Card should be fine if you only changed it in software.

Yea i get this, though i don't use ati tool i use rivatuner

A bad clock will kill my drivers and i will need to restart, who knows what damage to card ive done but they go through some pretty hefty abuse lol i love the 8800's, though for performance loss just try re-instaling drivers if no avail you went too far this time, unlucky

Cheers for the help guys. It seems to be working fine now, although 1 in every say 3-4 reboots I get the same problem so something is definitely up on a software level. It's not a massive issue as I can just restart the PC but it may get annoying in the future!
