I think I have spotted my problem......

No wonder my PC was switching of randomly, and it was so difficult to remove the power connector

could you make the pic a bit bigger please? cant quite see the detail, lol
seriously though as he says, just be thankful it didnt take anything else with it, or hope it hasnt if you dont yet know
 
Its an Abit IC7 board from my current rig.

Been in my living room for quite a number of years now and has been used heavily on a daily.

There is slight "browning" on the 12v 4 pin connecter also.

The PSU is an Enermax 535w, which was purchased with the m/b quite a few years ago.

The pin on the PSU m/b power connector is totally knacked also, but I have managed so get it running and stable again my butchering the socket on the motherboard and PSU connector and soldering a wire straight on to the remaining stump and cutting away the damaged part ont he PSU connector and joining the wire higher up.

Its was shutting down when there was large power running through it when gaming (gfx in ATI X1950 Pro), but seems fine now until I can replace the m/b.
