Long story short my father-in-law passed away a few years ago and left my wife the house and savings etc. Anyways we managed to buy a house our selfs with it and got married etc and put quite a bit away for a rainy day....

So we had a phone call from our solicitor saying there are some shares we need to send out to you, told us the name of the investment company and said we have 400 of them.

Great i thought, asked my colleague who likes to keep track of shares what the price was.... he came back as if he'd seen a ghost and said.... £525 a share.... almost fell of my chair.... £210,000..... wooooohoooo i thought new dirt bike for me haha.... anyways 5 mins later he said.... oh ***P sorry its £5.25 a share......

words can not tell you how devastated i am :( .... moral of the story always check shares your self!

You should be happy, you're still getting money for nothing.

Good point, although it is quite amusing that he was planning for a better life then 5 mins later his mate brings him back down to earth :) lol... Sorry, you gotta laugh...

ah boys i honestly find it absoultly hilerious, already rung up my dad laughin my head off!

Haha yeah i'm still very happy but when sum1 says £210,000 then says sorry £2000, kinda takes the edge off ya know haha... tbh i didn't believe it anyways, but did get a tad excited!

Got my first baby on the way so i'm prob gona leave the shares there since as the market will eventually pick up, so when he/she is older they can use it for what ever they want.

So you got left enough to buy a house while the rest of us are paying for houses ourselves and you expect some pity that you haven't been gifted another £200000? Oh my, poor you.

calm down, dear. It's not a serious thread :/

Bummer but that's not a near heart attack. Near heart attack was me the other night when a propane bottle caught fire, behind the flashback arrestor
