well i bought a antec edge 650w less then a month ago as my old one died but at the same time i had to rma my gpu r9 290 well that card was dead so got a refund and bought a r9 290x that came today so i put it in installed it all went to load bf4 then the pc just shuts down im getting event 41 kernal power in my event viewer so the only thing i can think of is that the psu is not man enough for my pc with the new card in it
my pc spec is

i7 4790k
asus maximus ranger
8gb amd gamer ram
r2 290x
2xssd
2xhdd
6 fans and standard cpu cooler at the moment

Your Antec is fine for the card, but it does not rule out a possible faulty psu.

Can you test your Antec in another system or another to test in yours.

How does the system react when running just Prime or just Furmark, also test with the cpu at stock.

I think the Kernal power error can be a multitude of things, but its a case of going through each part and see if you can isolate the issue.

Try the tests I have mentioed above and also remove the overclock to to ensure system stability.

What happened to your old PSU? make & model?

mite be a silly question could it be driver related ??

Can be, try the latest BETA drivers from AMD and check all your drivers are up-to-date to add to the list of options to test along with what was outlined in my above posts.

Also check your BIOS revision.

Yep, better - or the EVGA range are good aswell - but look at the G2 models as these have Superflower internals if I remember correctly.

YOUR BASKET
1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 1000W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £124.99
1 x EVGA SuperNova G2 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply £114.95
Total : £249.54 (includes shipping : £8.00).

When gaming my system with the MSI 290X LE and a overclocked 4770k and custom water pulls around 400w from the mains when gaming, only time I wt stupid figures is when I run Furmark and Prime together which no game or application will do.

this came today and all is fine

so im asuming the antec edge 650w was faulty or not upto the job of the r9 290x
luckily i got a full refund from amazon for it

yer im glad i sent it back and got the evga as im sure i will be adding another card when they go down in price also the 10 year warranty it great

well it turns out the psu was not the problem as i my pc shut down a few times last night while playing bf4 so back to square one with this problem lol
