Think I've had a shocker with mobo/psu

Guys,

Ordered a new mobo the other day (Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H) to accommodate my new AMD Phenom II 550 (socket AM3).

However, I failed to consider that I'd probably need a new PSU. The PSU I currently own is a Tagan 600W (TG600-U25) which used to be fine for my old Asus P5W DH Deluxe mobo, but I don't think it supports the Gigabyte mobo (above). For a start, the power connector doesn't quite fit into the Gigabyte mobo power input. The connector is only half the size of the slot on the motherboard. So it fits, sort of, but it doesn't look right since it's only half the size. Hope that makes sense.

Can someone please tell me that I've been an idiot and need to get a new PSU?

Thanks and happy new year.

8 pin sockets deliver the same power as 4 pin. Its just for stability, 4pin will work in 8, or you can just get an adaptor cheaply.

I've got virtually the same mobo and I'm using a 4pin 12v connector in the 8 pin mobo socket. No probs at all with an overclocked PII 720 @ 3.5ghz, 1.425v Vcore.:)
